Applet viewing in OutLook Express Stationery First for those of you who can't see Applets in OE stationery. You may need the Microsoft Virtual Machine (MSVM). The newer Applets Sun's Java Virtual Machines will show in OE, but not the older Applets. I have both of the MSVM here for download. You need both, but install 3805 first then 3810. 3805 is the core package and 3810 is the update to fix a hole in 3805. They are in zip format so will need something like WinZip to open them. Just download them to your desktop and unzip them. Both of them come with a readme to help you install them. This requires a reboot. Download for 3805 MSVM3805 Download for 3810 MSVM3810 How to mass unblock files for XP SP2 For those of you that download hundreds of files almost every day from say newsgroups or other sources. You may have seen that these files come with a block on them and if you right click on them and pick properties it will look some thing like this. ![]() As you can see there is an "unblock" button on the file properties...Now for most people these files open without any trouble, but for a few they have to click run when a nag screen asked do you want to run these. What we don't know is how much system resources this uses to have all these files on our harddrives with the block on them. Now we have two ways to mass unblock these files. Both way require you to set up a folder where you download all files too. 1.) I would like to thank Tinkerer from User2User newsgroup for finding this way to mass unblock these files. First way requires you to download and place three files (these are command prompt files) into your Windows folder and then download a .bat file and place that into the folder with the blocked images. I will give you the link to the command prompt files and you can download the .bat file here. There is a read me inside the Remove Streams zip. Download the stream zip here. Streams Zip Download the Remove Streams .bat file Remove Streams Bat File To do this way first download the streams zip from the above web site...Unzip them into your Windows folder...then download the remove streams bat zip and unzip it to the folder you choose to put your blocked downloads into. Then click on the bat file (one with the gear icon) say yes to anything that may ask up if you want to run this script. Then cut and paste all files but the remove streams bat to another folder. 2.) I would like to thank Sandy J for this method of unblocking files. This is for ones that don't want to or are afraid of using a command prompt and a .bat file. You need to set up a folder to download all the files too. Once you have download all the files using Ctrl highlight all files and right click and using WinZip Zip them all into one file. Now delete all the files you just zipped up and move your Zip file...When you unzip that folder all files will be unblocked You can also use WinRar to Rar up the files...Seems single files like jpg, exe, zips and others have this block on them but not the files inside a zip or rar. |
